Athletes for Kids helps children with special needs reach their potential by developing greater self-confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills. Founded on the idea that friendship has the power to restore a child’s faith in life, they were incorporated as a non-profit in 2002. Athletes for Kids help student athletes reach their potential by developing leadership skills, compassion, and commitment.
Athletes for Kids helps schools and communities in the greater Seattle area reach their potential by fostering environments where differences are celebrated and where all students are treated with dignity and respect. They match children who have special needs with high school athletes to learn from each other and positively impact each other’s lives. The athletes mentor their “buddies” for 1-3 years with many relationships growing into lifelong friendships. Athletes for Kids models acceptance and inclusion which transforms and improves the communities in which we live.
Mission Statement
