Dr. Young Filer, PT, DPT, OMPT, OCS
Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Young believes in a collaborative approach with patients to achieve the best outcomes. She understands that every patient is unique and has different goals they wish to achieve. She believes her role as a provider is to guide, educate, and prepare patients with the proper tools to not only recover but to prevent future re-injury.
Young graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Marquette University followed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Temple University. She has been practicing in the field for 25 years and is a Board Certified specialist in Orthopedics. She is also a trained manual physical therapist and certified in dry needling, ASTYM and spinal mobilization. She believes incorporating hands-on manual techniques along with functional movement achieves optimal results.
Young enjoys working with patients of all ages from school age athletes to weekend warriors and those aspiring to just be more active. Most of all, she believes that “movement is the medicine” and strives to keep her patients moving! She has a special interest in incorporating pelvic floor strengthening for pre and post-natal as well as perimenopausal women.
A native of Chicago and having spent most of her life in the Midwest, Young is astounded by the beauty of the PNW. When not working, she can be found outside trying to bribe her husband and teenage daughter to go on one of the countless hikes available near Seattle. Besides hiking, Young enjoys running marathons, playing tennis and soccer, and traveling.
“Love this place and these ladies! I was a patient of Kelcy and Shana’s back when they worked in Ballard, and they helped me tremendously with my low back issues.
Since then I’ve screwed up my knee (and it turns out my hip) and they are putting me back on the road to recovery. I will be running again soon! Pros: Parking lot, friendly sta, hour appointments.Cons: I have to drive here or ride my bike from Ballard.”
